A Night at the Opera
weather report for January 20th; cold, gradual clearing. A high of 40 degrees. The ride downtown was uneventful but a headwind slowed Mimi down. We had Sushi for lunch
After lunch, we still had an hour before we needed to be at the opera, so we went by the Experience Music Project
In the opera house long before start time, we took a look around. We danced with the statues
Examined the sculptures
and then went in and sat down
Donald looked so official that people thought he worked there
The opera, Pagliacci, was wonderful, we ate chocolate and Donald cried and then we had to ride home. It was getting dark, and there was a lovely sunset This is the Smith tower, which was the tallest building in Seattle for many years
The sun caused a fiery glow in the west
which then turned pink
A last view of downtown. You can see the Smith tower, with a pink square of sun on it dwarfed on the left ![]() |
